CAMP PERRY, Ohio – Are you a junior marksman looking to move your shooting career into college? Add sophisticated knowledge and hands-on training to your journey by signing up for the Civilian Marksmanship Program’s (CMP) 2019 National Matches Junior Camp.
Open to junior athletes who shoot both three-position smallbore and standing or international precision air rifle, the camp will be held at Petrarca Range and the Gary Anderson CMP Competition Center air range, both located on the grounds of Camp Perry in Ohio, July 17 through July 22, 2019. The evolving camp specializes in training intermediate and advanced athletes who are striving to improve their shooting skills towards future participation in collegiate programs.
Participants must be between the ages of 12 to 20 and must currently be shooting in three-position smallbore competition matches and international air rifle. Students who have not reached their 18th birthday by July 17, 2019, must be accompanied by an adult (age 21 or older).
A staff of certified coaches, safety officers and support staff are dedicated to providing a safe and outstanding learning opportunity to junior participants. Camp begins with a basic safety review, a reinforced understanding of the fundamentals, along with teaching the smallbore prone, standing & kneeling positions.
Also included within the camp will be a 50- and 100-yard prone "Dewar Match" on Petrarca Range, as well as a 60 Shot International Air Rifle event within the air gun range, using state-of-the-art electronic targets.
Cost of camp is $275 after May 1. Campers must provide their three-position smallbore target rifle (equipment and ammunition), though the CMP has sporter air rifles available for use in the air range. Class is limited to 71 students, so sign up now!
