The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) is excited to announce a special auction of an M1D Garand sniper rifle – a highly collectible piece of American military history! This unique rifle will be available on CMP’s Online Auction site beginning Nov. 18, with bids accepted until Nov. 30.
The auction is hosted by the CMP to raise funds toward a U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit (USAMU) Exhibit at the National Infantry Museum in Columbus, Ga. – in the hopes of contributing to the preservation and legacy of U.S. military marksmanship programs and ensuring future generations learn the significance these units have played in national defense and marksmanship excellence.
The auctioned M1D Garand includes all original GI parts such as the original cheek pad and M84 scope, making this a unique opportunity for collectors and enthusiasts to acquire a historically significant firearm while supporting a meaningful cause. The minimum starting bid will begin at $1,000.
About the M1D Garand:
The M1D Garand was developed as a sniper variant of the iconic M1 Garand. It features modifications such as a scope mount and the M84 scope, making it one of the most effective sniper rifles of its time. It was used during the Korean War and remains a highly prized collectible.
