APPLETON, Wis. – RECOIL Magazine, a publication of CMG West, LLC, has released its latest issue, number 62.
“More regimes have been brought, piecemeal, to their knees by what was once called ‘Irish democracy,’ the silent, dogged resistance, withdrawal, and truculence of millions of ordinary people, than by revolutionary vanguards or rioting mobs.”
— James C. Scott
It’s been an interesting couple of years. Even not-so-astute observers will have been shocked not only by the utter incompetence of our so-called elites, but their dogged determination to blame you, dear reader, for their shortcomings. We’ve been treated to unelected and highly paid “experts” flat-out lying to us regarding their bungled response to a virus with a 99.9-percent survival rate, forcing small businesses to the wall while enriching corporate donors. We’ve seen politicians from both sides of the uni-party shovel money into the economy, idling workers while increasing demand for goods and strangling supply, and then marvel that inflation has rocketed to levels unheard of in four decades. I guess no one could’ve seen that coming — unless they had a grasp of economics slightly above that of algae.
Then, we have the systematic destruction of societal bonds that have served this country well since its tumultuous birth. Social engagement with our fellow citizens is way down, as we prefer to spend our time doom scrolling on tiny screens instead of breaking bread with neighbors — a feature of social media, not a bug. For the past two years, we’ve been actively discouraged from meeting in person, and children who would’ve learned the hard lessons of human interaction through rough and tumble schoolyard play have been stuck in front of a computer, or arrayed 6 feet apart with a mask over their faces. I dread to think of the harm we’ve inflicted on this generation or the problems they’ll have to face on their way to adulthood, courtesy of a highly politicized subset of the educational system. In school-aged children, rates of loneliness, anxiety, and suicidal ideation are through the roof. Thanks, Karens.
Individualism is actively discouraged; activities and skills which should be part of the normal repertoire of adult males are condemned as toxic, misogynistic, or racist, and it’s no surprise that over 80 percent of recent mass murderers were raised in a dysfunctional family environment with no father figure. It’s easy to believe we’re trapped in a fog of institutionally sanctioned weakness and mediocrity, where trying to become a better provider or defender of one’s family is heresy, all while materialism, hedonism, and needless consumption are celebrated. The irony of those wishing to defund the police now calling for citizen disarmament should be lost on no one.
But don’t look behind the curtain. Believe the narrative that an inanimate object is to blame for the violence of society’s broken and lost youth, rather than the collective decisions of the ruling class, as well as our unfortunate failure or inability to hold them accountable. It must be you, bitterly clinging to your guns and religion, who stands in the way of progress. So hand them in, get in line, and bow your head. The cattle cars are that way.
Me? I’m out of countries to move to. So, no.
