Michael Boyd Evernham

Michael Boyd Evernham, age 80, of Noblesville, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday January 9, 2026, at Independence Village of Fishers East in Fishers, IN.

Born July 29, 1945, in Winamac, IN to the late Boyd and Virginia (Skillen) Evernham. On December 5, 1965, he married the love of his life Vicky Joan DeBarge, who survives.

Mike served five years in the U.S. Army during Vietnam and afterwards was lucky enough to get the opportunity to join up with Simmons Gun Specialties, a distributor located in Olathe, KS, as a road salesman. In 1976 he was promoted to National Sales Manager. In 1978 he joined Winchester-Olin Corp as District Sales Manager for IN, MI and OH. Mike was one of the last individuals hired for both his sales and competitive shooting abilities. He later started Evernham & Assoc., Inc. in September 1983 with Savage Arms as his flagship manufacturer. A relationship that lasted over thirty years.

One of Mike's greatest accomplishments was being inducted into the Indiana Trap Shooters Hall of Fame in 2020. He had a lifelong passion for trapshooting and was a fierce competitor, earning several championships. Over a decades-long shooting career and more than 153,000 registered targets shot, some of his accomplishments at the range include:

1977 - Preliminary Singles Champion (Industry)

1981 - Grand American Class Singles Champion (Industry)

1981 - Grand American ATA Clay Target Singles Champion (Industry)

1982 - ATA All American Team (Industry)

2008 - Grand American Doubles Champion (B Class)

2017 - FL State Doubles Champion

Other survivors, including his wife Vicky, are one son, Michael Boyd (Michelle) Evernham II; one daughter, Kimberly Paige Evernham; three grandchildren, Michael R. (Ashley) Evernham; Victoria (William) Atkins and Isabel Evernham; five great grandchildren, Charlotte Atkins, Nora Atkins, Olive Evernham, Isla Evernham and Wrenley Atkins and one sister, Sandy (Jay) Cox; several nieces and nephews.

A memorial visitation will be held from 1-3 pm Sunday January 18, 2026, in the Gundrum Funeral Home.

A full military service will be provided by the Cass County Honor Guard and Uniformed Army Personnel, at 3:00 pm followed by a few brief comments by family and friends.
