Our Anoka, MN location is seeking a Quality Engineer to add to our team. The Quality Engineer will be responsible for implementing the concepts of Jidoka (built-in quality) throughout the Anoka production facility. This will be accomplished by reviewing current equipment and then designing and implementing methods to build quality into the production process as well as providing input to design teams on rapid change-over designs for new equipment. This position will be accountable for ensuring execution of project deliverables supporting the single piece flow initiative. This position will work in a matrix team environment and may participate in multiple projects at a time.
Responsibilities:
Implement the concepts of Jidoka (built-in quality) throughout the production facility.
Define process capabilities.
Reviewing and design processes including:
o Identification of critical steps for in-process inspection/poka-yoke
o Tooling function
o Tooling wear parameters
Design and conduct test protocols to validate changes.
Design processes/tools for testing at site of manufacture (short cycle time testing)
Education and Experience Requirements:
o Bachelor's degree in Engineering discipline
o Familiarity with manufacturing operations and equipment
o 3 years Lean Manufacturing experience in a production environment
o Able to articulate and demonstrate the concepts of Jidoka (built in quality) and the importance of defining process capabilities and employing SPC
o Experience in reviewing and designing processes including:
§ Identification of critical steps for in-process inspection/poka-yoke
§ Tooling function
§ Tooling wear parameters
o Experience in designing processes/tools for testing at site of manufacture (short cycle time testing)
o 3D Modeling software experience, Solidworks preferred
o Knowledge of and application experience with SPC, DOE, TQM, etc.
o Excellent organizational, communication, problem solving, project management and teamwork skills
o Experience in a matrix team environment.
o Able to operate well in an unstructured environment with minimal direct supervision
o Strong customer focus.
o Some domestic travel required

Our Anoka, MN location is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer IV to add to our team. This role will develop new methods, tooling and machine designs and resolve processing issues/problems involved in the manufacturing of shells, primers, and/or bullets in the ammunition plants.
Responsibilities
o Perform major project management assignments including responsibility for:capital expenditure justification, equipment/process design and development, project spending, project execution timing, and resource management.
o Use engineering experience and principles to create & design manufacturing systems for cost savingsinitiatives, capacity expansion, quality improvements, safety abatement, etc. Provides and implements technical solutions to advanced problems which require ingenuity and innovation.
o Represents the organization as a technical contact on projects. Interacts with senior personnel on important technical matters and helps coordinate between organizations.
o Develops improvements to tooling and processes for the manufacture of existing products by changing thepresent specifications and supervising special tests concerning product improvement.
o Identifies and implements cost reduction opportunities such as improved material utilization,increased machine/process efficiency, reduced cost of poor quality, etc.
o Reviews tools and perishable machine parts drawings for the necessity of revision on tolerances, surfacefinishes, dimensions, material selection, etc., and initiates Engineering Change Orders when justified.
o Investigates and troubleshoots production difficulties and takes corrective measures.
Qualifications
o BS Engineering
o 7+ years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role.
o 2+ years project leadership experience
o Computer skills in CAD (SolidWorks preferred), word processing, and spreadsheets.
o Familiarity with high volume metallic parts manufacturing operations and equipment.
o Thorough understanding and broad application of engineering technical standards, principles, theories, and techniques.
o Excellent organizational, communication, project management and teamwork skills.
o Excellent mathematical, problem solving, written and verbal communication skills.
o Ability to perform at a high level with minimal supervision and direction.
ADDITIONAL DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
o MS Engineering and/or MBA
o PMP Certification
o Thorough understanding of predictive maintenance technologies, design, and installation of automated systems.
o Hands on experience with Six Sigma tools and techniques and lean manufacturing concepts.
o Small caliber ammunition manufacturing experience.
o Statistical/DOE experience
o Installation and maintenance of automated systems (including programming)
