To my friends and loyal customers,
It brings me great sadness to tell you of the passing of Mack Gwinn, Jr., my father, and the genius behind multiple firearms designs and many patents. He passed away quietly, surrounded by family. The son of a retired military officer, Mack Jr. followed in his footsteps and joined the Army becoming a Special Forces Recon officer. Given he served in Vietnam, Mack Jr. came back to the States with ideas for new weapons and military systems. He created the first designs for the Bushmaster Pistol, now reinvented as the Hydra BMP-23, as well as the Hydra Modular MARCK-15 rifle system.
His curiosity, intelligence, and background led him to work on a variety of projects including the Sting vehicle as a replacement for the US Army Jeep, two versions of a remote ground security vehicle, and under Ordinance Technology Inc. he created the SSP-86 target pistol with the Canon-style breach-action. Under Muzzle Lite Inc., Mack Jr. designed bull-pup stocks for the Mini 14 and the 10/22. He developed recoil reduction systems for Counter Poise. He created and sold/licensed the .50 caliber QCB system to FN. He developed 12ga. adapters for 37mm and 40mm launchers. As Firepower Inc., Mack Jr. developed the 75-round magazine and eventually the 90-round magazine for MWG Co.
My father was an inspiration to all he met. His love of innovation and pursuit of new technologies made him a leader in his field. Today, we continue to bring his passion to customers across the world with his modular, multi-caliber system, muzzle breaks, and the Hydra® Rate Reducing Buffer.
Sincerely, Mack Gwinn III |
