Edwards County Archery Hosts Illinois S3DA Indoor Regional

Williamsburg, KY – Edwards County Archery hosted an Illinois S3DA Indoor Regional Tournament at the Country Financial Building in Albion, Illinois. Hundreds of spectators filled the building for the 80 archers from across the state who competed in the event. Wabash Valley College Head Archery Coach, Earl Lawrence, was in attendance to provide archers and their families information on their collegiate archery program.

“The highlight of the day was during the competition when two of our Edwards County archers, Alyson and her sister, Sydney Williams shot their personal best scores to date. Alyson shot a 150 with 29 x’s and Sydney shot a 150 with 17 x’s. These girls and the rest of the Edwards County Archery Team shot great, and I am excited to see the growth in our team throughout this season,” stated Edwards County Archery Coach, Eli Landingham.

Illinois S3DA State Coordinator, Steve Groom said, “What a great turnout and a great group of kids. Our archers and their families enjoy traveling to different locations each weekend to shoot. Almost all the line times for this venue were at max capacity. We really appreciate our event hosts for everything they do to make these events possible.”

About Scholastic 3-D Archery

Scholastic 3-D Archery (S3DA) is a unique, family-oriented youth archery program which has grown exponentially across the United States as a next-step initiative to follow introductory archery programs. The mission of the Scholastic

3-D Archery program is to foster, educate and guide youth in the areas of 3D, indoor target, and outdoor target archery as well as safe, ethical bowhunting practices. The goal of the S3DA program is to provide archery and bowhunting opportunities to youth in after-school settings, as well as with archery-affiliated clubs and businesses in the community. S3DA youth participate in 3-D and target archery using compound and traditional archery equipment. Youth members can participate at regional, state and national archery events and earn college scholarships from colleges and universities across the United States. S3DA addresses the need for a program to bridge beginning target archery experience and more advanced activities such as 3-D shooting and bowhunting. The program currently operates across the United States with hundreds of certified coaches serving thousands of youth archers.
