Project ChildSafe Announces Partnership with Slingit to Support Responsible Estate Planning and Firearm Safety

Project ChildSafe®, a program of the NSSF® — The Firearm Industry Trade Association — today announced a new partnership with Slingit, a trusted online platform that helps families organize, appraise and responsibly manage inherited firearm collections. The collaboration supports individuals and families who want clarity, confidence and safe options when planning for the future.

Many families face uncertainty when navigating inherited firearms or deciding how their own collections should be handled. Through this partnership, Slingit provides a secure, streamlined process for evaluating and selling firearms, while offering individuals the option to designate Project ChildSafe as an intended beneficiary of the proceeds from their collection. (Please note: this designation is informational only and does not replace a will or other estate‑planning documents. Users are encouraged to consult a qualified attorney to ensure their estate plans accurately reflect their wishes.)

"Estate planning is an important part of responsible firearm ownership," said Joe Bartozzi, Chairman of the Project ChildSafe Foundation and President & CEO of NSSF. "Partnering with Slingit gives families a trusted pathway to manage inherited firearms while supporting Project ChildSafe's safety resources that save lives."

Slingit's platform helps families understand the value of their firearms, document collections for estate purposes and make informed decisions about next steps. By choosing to donate sale proceeds to Project ChildSafe, individuals can transform inherited firearms into meaningful support for secure storage education and community safety initiatives.

"We're proud to partner with Project ChildSafe on such an important initiative," said Walt Geer, Founder and CEO of Slingit. "Safe and responsible firearm ownership is deeply ingrained in our culture, and we're honored to help firearm owners and their families support Project ChildSafe and its mission."

Project ChildSafe encourages families to consider how thoughtful planning can contribute to a safer future — including turning an inherited firearm collection into life‑saving impact. Learn more about the partnership and donation options at projectchildsafe.org/donate and slingit.com.

All contributions directly support Project ChildSafe's nationwide firearm‑safety education efforts.
